And not only wine...

It is well known that Galician water is special. And that the Galicians know how to transform it into marvellous things. To eat and to drink. And it is not magic: it is knowing how to do each step of the process well and working hard. And of course, everyone recognises that.

World Beer Challenge. Much more than a competition.

Only the best beers are entered here. And in this 2019 edition, "The 1906 family of beers maintains its position among the best beers in the world" by winning two gold medals and a silver medal "at the World Beer Challenge. In this way, it not only reaffirms its positions from previous editions, but also climbs positions in this internationally prestigious ranking of British beers that every year analyses and scores hundreds of references".

But there is more...

"In recent years, the 1906 family has accumulated a list of 65 awards, including the Superior Taste Awards, the Monde Selection, the Craft Beer Awards, the International Beer Challenge and the World Beer Awards".

Three outstanding Galician beers

"The company assures that they surpass the almost five hundred brands of beer from all over the world that enter this competition in which they are evaluated for their quality and flavour by experts of different nationalities. This distinction has singled out 1906 Red Vintage for "its unique character, with subtle notes of caramel and coffee leading to floral aromas reminiscent of hops".

In the case of 1906 Reserva Especial, the award went to "its unique flavour of intense bitterness and balance with a highly persistent white foam that remains in the glass throughout consumption". In addition to these two beers, the 1906 Black Coupage dark lager, which has recently joined the range, was awarded a silver medal with 94 points out of 100".

The jury recognised "its toasted aromas, a pronounced and prolonged bitterness on the palate tinged by subtle smoky, woody notes with hints of liquorice and cocoa".

If we add to these demonstrations of quality the latest scientific findings confirming that the waste from brewing beer helps to clean nitrates from river water, one of the main pollutants, we have no choice but to drink beer this summer. But in moderation, please.
