Heroic viticulture, pleasure of gods
The Romans planted the vines thousands of years ago. Since then, the Sil River Canyon has been nurturing its green properties relentlessly. Since then, the people of Ribeira Sacra, in the south of Galicia, have been practising an incredible system of wine production: heroic viticulture is the official name all over the world. And in this area of Galicia it is the most risky in the world. Working on slopes of over 30%. Without machinery, without even animals to help. Hours of picking grapes and carrying them to the top of the hill every day. But the results are worth it.
There are only a handful of brave wineries that produce a limited amount of the different varieties of wine each season, but these bottles rise to the top... of fame.
REGINA VIARIUM was selected among all the gold medal winners as the best mencía grape red from Spain at The International Wine Challenge in London 2013, among the 12,000 different wines that participated. This is a primum inter pares, but there are many more varieties:
Reds - Brancellao, Merenzao, Sousón, Caíño, Tinto and Tempranillo.
Whites - Godello, Albariño, Loureira, Treixadura, Dona Branca, and Torrontes.
Come and be a hero.
